Including me 🙂 Borough Market sells food and fresh ingredients, most unique and loved by many London home cooking enthusiasts. With the fresh food and pleasant atmosphere in this market, it makes shopping here an exciting experience!
Leadenhall Market
Gracechurch Street is the home of the magnificent Leadenhall Market. This market usually sells fresh food and food-related ingredients. It is considered one of the oldest street markets in 14th century London. This selection for London’s Best Street Markets was originally a poultry, game, and meat market. Its main stock is food vendors selling everything from cheese to fresh meat, but you can find it at some clothing stores!
Smithfield Market
Located in the northwest area of central London, Smithfield Market is primarily a meat market and wholesale market. Its rich history comes with the fact that Smithfield Market has existed since the 10th century. It has a rich history of bloody executions of heretics and state rebels, and historical figures such as Wat Tyler and Sir William Wallace. Old Spitalfields Market
Located in London’s Spitalfields, this covered market has been in existence for over 350 years! It moved to New Spitalfields Market in Layton in 1991, but the original site is still preserved as a market selling everything from fashion clothing, art, and design to food and fresh produce. This addition to Top London Street Markets is exciting and engaging due to the variety of its products. You can find delicious food, eye-opening artwork, old antiques, and much more!
Hammersmith Street Market (My Favorite!)
Hammersmith Street Market is a place I visit regularly, even though it’s not a very big market, it’s a place where you can taste delicious food from 5-8 different cultures! There is even a stall selling fresh bread. Prices are usually between £4 and £10 per person. Although this market is not a place that everyone knows, it is mostly preferred by locals (like me 🙂 and working people living in this hammersmith & Fulham area. Hammersmith Street Market is open on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Personally, I prefer Fridays, of course, you can visit on any other day.
Piccadilly Market
Located in the St James district in London’s Westminster borough, this market has about forty-five stalls. Open 6 days a week, Closed on Sundays only. Part of the Piccadilly Arts Festival, this market has a rich history as part of the cultural development of London’s arts and crafts scene. Since it opened permanently in 1984, Piccadilly Market has been growing and transforming into a wonderful art and culture-filled street market. It features a food market, an antique market, and an arts and crafts market, all of which operate on different days.
